Two Portuguese tourists, Goncalo Alfaro Pereira Dos Santos e Cruz, 39 years old, and Dinis Pedro Dos Santos Rodrigues, 40 years old, disappeared in San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas, on November 8. After losing contact with their families, who confirmed their location in the aforementioned tourist destination, local authorities and the Consulate of Portugal disseminated their information to assist in their search.
Finally, on November 14, the Attorney General's Office of Chiapas reported that both tourists were located in Mexico City. The Consulate of Portugal in the Mexican capital confirmed that the men arrived safe and sound to the city a day earlier, with no serious incidents reported.
Despite being found, investigations continue to clarify the circumstances of their disappearance and to determine if they were victims of any crime during their stay in Chiapas. So far, no information has been revealed suggesting they were in physical danger, which raises questions about their whereabouts during the days their families were unaware of their location.
The confirmation of their location in Mexico City raised questions about what happened to the tourists during the days they were missing. Since that moment, Mexican authorities have begun searching for information to resolve the case.
